MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 8400, a premium smartphone chipset featuring an innovative "All Big Core" architecture. This design incorporates eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores operating at up to 3.25GHz, delivering a 41% increase in multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 8300. Additionally, the chipset achieves a 44% reduction in peak power consumption, enhancing energy efficiency.

The Dimensity 8400 is equipped with the Arm Mali-G720 GPU, offering a 24% improvement in peak performance and a 42% increase in power efficiency over the previous generation. This GPU works alongside MediaTek's Frame Rate Converter (MFRC) and Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) 3.0 to provide smoother, more optimized gaming experiences in real time.

A notable feature of the Dimensity 8400 is its advanced AI capabilities, powered by MediaTek's NPU 880. This neural processing unit supports mainstream large language models (LLMs), enabling applications such as translation, rewriting, contextual replies, AI recording, and media generation. The integration of MediaTek’s Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) further allows developers to create innovative agentic AI applications that anticipate user needs and adapt to their preferences.

The chipset also features the MediaTek Imagiq 1080 Image Signal Processor (ISP), which utilizes QPD remosaic technology to capture more light, focus faster and more accurately, and produce high-resolution images. It supports HDR recording throughout the entire zoom range, enabling users to capture exceptional videos.

Manufactured using TSMC's advanced 4nm process, the Dimensity 8400 is set to debut in devices like the Redmi Turbo 4, expected to launch in early 2025. This chipset positions MediaTek as a strong competitor in the premium smartphone market, offering enhanced performance, energy efficiency, and AI capabilities.
